Product Selection:

Independent agencies typically offer a wide range of insurance products from multiple insurance companies, providing customers with more options to choose from.

Insurance company agencies like Allstate or State Farm exclusively sell their own insurance products, limiting the selection available to customers.

Customization and Flexibility:

Independent agencies can tailor insurance policies to better suit individual customer needs since they have access to multiple companies and products.

Insurance company agencies offer some level of customization; however, the options are generally limited to the products offered by the specific insurance company.

Price Comparison:

Independent agency customers can compare prices from multiple insurance companies, potentially finding more competitive rates.

Insurance company agencies’ pricing is limited to the products offered by the specific insurance company, making it harder for customers to assess whether they are getting the best value.

Representation:

Independent agents typically represent multiple insurance companies and work on behalf of their customers to find the best insurance coverage options to meet their specific needs. They have a fiduciary duty to act in the best interest of their clients.

On the other hand, agents working for companies like Allstate or State Farm primarily represent their respective companies. While they provide guidance and assistance to customers in selecting insurance products offered by their company, their primary allegiance is to the insurer they represent.

This difference in representation can influence the advice and recommendations provided to customers, as independent agents have the flexibility to shop around for policies from multiple carriers, potentially offering more tailored and competitive options.

Here are some things to consider if you are deciding whether to file a claim:

  • Was anyone injured?
  • Did you damage someone else’s property or vehicle?
  • Is it unsafe to live in your home or drive your car?
  • Are the damages above your deductible?
  • Is it just a maintenance issue or normal wear-and-tear?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, you should consider filing a claim. If you have questions about filing a claim, call your carrier directly.

The short answer is no.  Insurance rates are regulated by law so that no company, broker, or agent can offer a discount on a policy different than that of another broker, agent, or company. Keep in mind that each individual carrier has only one product to offer while independent agencies like Insurish have several.

Give your Insurish agent a call before you move.

If you already have a homeowner insurance policy through Insurish, your agent will review your current coverage to make sure you have the protection you need before and during your move.

If you are buying a new home, please call your Insurish agent as soon as possible; your lending institution may require you to have your policy “in hand” at your closing. And, if you’re building a new home, you may need special coverage while your new home is being built.

If you didn’t get your current homeowner policy through Insurish, one of our agents will be happy to provide you quotes from several carriers to properly protect your new home. There may be additional savings for you if you have your Insurish agent find both your home and auto insurance.

Before you buy a car:

Once you’ve chosen the car you want, give your Insurish agent a call to find out the cost of insuring the particular car you’re interested in buying.

After you buy a car:

As soon as you have purchased your new car, again, call your Insurish agent to make sure your policy records and coverages are up to date and to get the exact amount of your new premium.

If changes happen in your life, please let your insurish agent know. In some cases your coverage may need to be updated. Here are some examples of times when you should call your Insurish agent:

You’re moving

You buy a new car (or add an additional car)

You have a baby

Your son or daughter goes off to college

Your son or daughter begins driving

You add on to your home

You get married or divorced
