NOT REQUIRED, UNLESS…

You have a loan on your golf cart.

LIABILITY PROTECTION:

Shield yourself from liability for injuries, property damage, and lawsuits.

YOUR MEDICAL EXPENSES:

Ensure coverage for medical expenses for you and your passengers in case of an accident.

PROTECTION FOR YOUR GOLF CART:

The two standard coverages do not provide protection for damage or replacement of your golf cartTo ensure coverage for your golf cart, Collision and Comprehensive coverages are needed.

There are Two Standard Golf Cart Coverages:

Bodily Injury Liability (BI):

This coverage pays for the medical expenses of others if you’re at fault in a golf cart accident.  BI coverage extends to passengers in other vehicles, pedestrians or cyclists who may be injured.  BI includes compensation for medical costs, pain and suffering, and lost wages for the injured parties.

However, BI does not cover injuries to you or your passengers.  To ensure coverage for injuries sustained by you or your passengers, you must purchase optional medical coverage.

Property Damage Liability (PD):

This coverage pays for the costs of repairing or replacing another person’s damaged property if you are found at fault in an accident.  PD covers repairs to their vehicles and other damaged property.

However, PD does not cover damage to your golf cart.  To cover damages and repairs to your golf cart, you must purchase optional Collision and Comprehensive Coverages.

Optional Golf Cart Insurance Coverages:

Collision Coverage:

Example: While descending a steep hill from the tee box to the fairway, you lose control and slide off the cart path, colliding with a tree causing $1,000 in damage to your golf cart. You have a $250 collision deductible, you’ll pay that amount, and your insurance company will pay the remaining $750.

Comprehensive Coverage:

Example: Your new golf cart has been stolen from a parking lot.  With a $250 deductible , you’ll pay that amount to replace your golf cart, and the insurance company will cover the remainder.

Example: While driving down the fairway, your golf cart gets hit by an uninsured golf cart driver. Your injuries generate $5,000 in medical bills. With UM/UIM coverage with $50,000/$100,000 limits, your bills are paid in full because they do not exceed the coverage limits.

Medical Coverage:

Example: You lost control of your golf cart and crashed, resulting in injuries that required $10,000 for medical care and rehabilitation. With a $20,000 medical coverage limit, your policy covers all your bills.

Accessory Coverage:

If you have both comprehensive and collision coverage on your golf cart policy, you automatically have $3,000 in accessory coverage. Additional coverage can be purchased if needed, up to $30,000.

Example: The radio and speakers you added to your golf cart are damaged in a hailstorm. They cost $2,000 to replace which is covered by your accessory coverage.

Guest Passenger Liability Coverage:

If passengers are injured while riding in your golf cart, guest passenger liability coverage can cover their injuries up to the limits of your policy.

Example: Your playing partner slips and falls while getting into the cart and is injured. Your liability for your partner’s injuries is covered.

What is a Deductible?

A deductible is the amount of money you must pay out of pocket for covered expenses before your insurance coverage begins to apply.

For example, if your golf cart insurance collision deductible is $250 and you incur $1,000 in damages, the insurance company will pay the repair shop $750, and you would be responsible for paying your $250 deductible.
